Our hormones start declining much earlier than we generally think; men’s testosterone decline starts in early 30s, of female hormones progesterone in early 40s and estrogens in late 40s.
And once hormones are not in balance – we get symptoms anxiety, hair loss top of head, thinning skin, low libido, loss of memory, mood swings, weight gain, impotence, osteoporosis; lower the hormones - longer the list.

Bioidentical Hormones UK

Studies show that replacing the hormones that decline as we age can help both men and women return to their youthful selves, and live longer, healthier and happier.  And the only way to replace hormones safely is by using customized natural, bio-identical hormones.

One of the biggest differences between synthetic and natural hormones is in their chemical structure.  Synthetic estrogen and progesterone are not the same chemical structure of estrogen and progesterone that your body makes.  Synthetic hormones do not fit into your hormone receptors in your body - so they also function differently in your body than the natural hormones do.  For example your own estradiol molecules are eliminated from your body within a few hours, conversely synthetic estrogen (from a horse) has been shown to stay in your body for up to 13 weeks.  Synthetic progesterone can increase the risk of heart disease and breast cancer – that’s why the famous Women’s Health Initiative Program -study had to be stopped in 2002 when the increased risk of heart disease and breast cancer was found in the synthetic progesterone group. Natural progesterone decreases the risk of heart disease because it increases the protective affects of estrogen on your heart and natural progesterone has been even found to decrease the risk of cancer.

There is a lot of discussion going on around “hormones” but most of it is about the side-effects of synthetic hormones.  It is important to specify are we talking about Natural, bio-identical hormones or Synthetic hormones, because they have completely different functions in our body.  Make sure that your hormone replacement therapy uses only natural, bio-identical, customised hormones – because that is the only way to replace them safely.
